Marketplace Web App I UX-UI case study
Mergo
Mergo is a dual-purpose marketplace designed for buying/selling products and booking/providing services. My goal was to create a seamless, secure user experience that builds trust in peer-to-peer transactions.
Overview
To build trust in buying and selling by overcoming insecure payments, lack of direct chat, unverified sellers, and a confusing listing process.
Mergo addresses this with escrow-secured payments, in-app chat, verified seller profiles, and a guided listing form with live preview.
Research
To understand user challenges in buying and selling products and services, I conducted surveys, user interviews, and a SWOT analysis of existing marketplaces. The findings highlighted major trust issues due to insecure payments, lack of direct communication with sellers, and unverified profiles. Users also struggled with complicated listing processes and desired a simpler, more reliable platform.
Design
The design process started with low-fidelity wireframes to map user flows and key features like escrow payments and guided listings. These were refined into high-fidelity wireframes with a clear visual hierarchy and interactive components. Finally, the UI design focused on a clean, trustworthy interface with consistent colors, typography, and intuitive navigation for both product and service transactions.
Results
Developed a seamless end-to-end flow for both product and service transactions.
Enhanced user trust with escrow-secured payments and verified seller profiles.
Improved clarity and efficiency through guided listing forms and live previews.
Created a consistent, user-friendly interface informed by research insights.
